AI and the future of work

Adapting to a world where AI empowers workers and businesses

One question I am frequently asked is whether AI will replace certain jobs and industries. While it is too early to make any confident predictions, we can all agree on one thing: it is going to be disruptive. Goldman Sachs recently released a significant piece of research, stating that AI could potentially impact up to 300 million jobs [read the report here].

Many people view this disruption as a negative occurrence, predicting a future in which robots replace human workers. However, this is just one perspective.

Another viewpoint is that automation has the potential to generate more jobs than it eliminates. In addition to creating new jobs, AI can also help people do their jobs better - a lot better.

From an individual perspective, I prefer to reframe the question as, "How can AI benefit or enhance my profession or career?" Here is a little exercise I recently went through:

  1. Create a detailed outline of your primary tasks and workflows, estimating their weekly duration and identifying aspects you find enjoyable or unenjoyable.

  2. Sign up for the "Do More with AI" newsletter and explore ChatGPT, Google, Twitter, or YouTube to discover innovative AI and automation tools that can streamline your tasks and workflows (you'll be amazed at the variety available).

  3. Integrate these AI solutions into your routine (especially the tasks you don’t find enjoyable) and witness a significant boost in your productivity and overall satisfaction.

Please reply to this email if you would like me to share the Notion template that I used for this exercise.

Also, be sure to check out our "Day in the Life of AI" segment, where we demo some of these workflows.

I encourage businesses and owners to conduct a similar exercise. The sooner you understand and embrace the potential of AI, the sooner you can experience how AI-driven solutions can revolutionise operations, enhance decision-making, and unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation.
