Introducing ai.io: Revolutionising Global Talent Discovery and Development in Sports

My passion for AI is well-known, but before that fascination began, sports held a special place in my heart. Today, I'm exploring a product that masterfully merges both these interests. In an era where technology and sports are converging, ai.io stands out as a pioneering entity. This award-winning technology company, headquartered in London and with offices in the US, is creating waves by launching the world's first fully-automated platform for scouting and cultivating sports talent from around the globe.

ai.io’s groundbreaking solutions focus on the generation and analysis of both amateur and professional sports data, thus providing organisations and players with real-time analysis, reporting, and valuable insights. Two innovative products—aiScout and aiLabs—are currently being made available to Major League Soccer (MLS) as well as Chelsea FC and Burnely FC in the English Premier League.

This robust technology partnership with MLS is monumental for sports in North America. It aligns with MLS’ Emerging Ventures program and the significant investments made in MLS NEXT.

Darren Peries, CEO of ai.io, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that the aiScout app has already proven successful, with some users now playing for clubs in the English Premier League. The partnership aims to increase opportunities and decrease costs, enabling more players to reach their full potential through premier soccer training programs.

Scheduled for availability in December 2023, aiScout and aiLabs will transform the way clubs across MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, and MLS NEXT scout and analyse talent. Starting January 2024, this free program will open the doors for players worldwide to be discovered by MLS.

The utilisation of cutting-edge computer vision and AI by ai.io eliminates traditional barriers like cost, geography, and time commitment, making talent discovery accessible to all.

Fred Lipka, Technical Director of MLS NEXT, emphasised that the partnership addresses critical issues in soccer across North America, such as cost, geography, and accessibility. He affirmed that ai.io's technology platform is essential to remove these barriers and expand opportunities for players without any financial burden.

The collaboration between ai.io and Major League Soccer represents a revolutionary step in leveraging AI and technology to democratise sports talent scouting. By providing an accessible and free platform, ai.io aims to level the playing field, allowing every aspiring player an opportunity to be seen, analysed, evaluated, and developed by top-tier clubs. The future of sports talent discovery is here, and it is digital, equitable, and all-inclusive. Organisations such as NZ Rugby, The NRL, and Football Australia should take note.
