ChatGPT vs. Bing AI

Which AI chatbot is better for you?

AI chatbots have been all the rage since ChatGPT's launch. Several people have been asking me about the difference between ChatGPT and Bing AI. So, I decided to write a quick summary today.

ChatGPT and Bing AI are two popular AI chatbots. ChatGPT is well known for generating text, talking conversationally, and writing code. Bing AI, on the other hand, has access to the entirety of the internet. Here's how to choose the right one for your needs.

Choose ChatGPT if…

  1. You want to experience the hype for yourself As the leading AI chatbot, ChatGPT has gained immense popularity for its capabilities. Currently free and open to all, it's a great starting point to explore AI chatbots.

  2. You want clarity on topics or events from before 2021 ChatGPT was trained on the entirety of the web before 2021. Therefore, if you have any questions about topics or events that occurred before 2021, ChatGPT will be able to provide you a thorough, conversational response.

  3. You want long, in-depth responses ChatGPT excels at providing thorough answers without a query cap, allowing limitless follow-up questions.

You should use Bing's AI powered search if…

  1. You want information on current events Bing AI indexes the entire web, providing access to the latest events and stories. It's an excellent choice for news-related questions.

  2. You want to confirm your sources Bing AI provides sources for its responses. When you ask a question in Bing AI, it will generate a response with footnotes that lead you back to the exact source it got its response from. This capability is especially useful when using the chatbot for tasks where accuracy is crucial such as a workplace or academic deliverable, research, or just a casual conversation.

  3. You want free access to OpenAI's latest model -- GPT 4 Bing AI is the only free option to access OpenAI's latest model, GPT-4. On May 4, Microsoft announced some major AI upgrades that are coming to both Bing and Edge. These features are more advanced than those of ChatGPT right now. Access to Bing's latest features won't involve a premium subscription.

In summary, ChatGPT is ideal for experiencing AI chatbot capabilities, obtaining pre-2021 information, and receiving detailed responses. Bing AI is the better choice for staying up-to-date with current events, verifying sources, and accessing GPT-4 without a subscription.

I hope that helps you choose the chatbot that aligns with your requirements and enjoy the benefits of AI-powered assistance.

This week has flown by. I hope you've enjoyed the content and I look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday for more exciting happenings in the world of AI.
