ChatGPT is strengthening the case for a 4-day workweek

Productivity measures output relative to input. In macroeconomic terms, it's the value of goods and services produced divided by the amount of labor, capital, and other resources required for production. McKinsey has published a paper on labor productivity, which is defined as the economic output per hour worked. This is a commonly used productivity measure and is of interest since it is the most consequential determinant of long-run economic growth.

Increased productivity could contribute up to $10 trillion to GDP by 2030. Robots could revolutionise the way people work, optimise outcomes, reduce friction, and provide more personal time for individuals in the long run.

Stanford University - The 2023 AI Index

The 2023 AI Index — compiled by researchers from Stanford University as well as AI companies including Google, Anthropic, and Hugging Face — suggests that the world of AI is entering a new phase of development. Over the past year, a large number of AI tools have gone mainstream, from chatbots like ChatGPT to image-generating software like Midjourney. But decisions about how to deploy this technology and how to balance risk and opportunity lie firmly in the hands of corporate players.

Academics concerned about ChatGPT advancing at warp speed

An interesting news story emerged in New Zealand yesterday. A university lecturer suggested that we should shut down schools until the education sector has figured out how to deal with the rapid developments in artificial intelligence.

He explained that teachers need adequate time to upskill and understand the impact of websites like ChatGPT, which can write entire essays for students. While he acknowledged that shutting down schools may seem like a drastic measure, he argued that it's necessary to address the issue immediately rather than incrementally over multiple years.

It's unlikely this proposal will be implemented, but it highlights the unprecedented velocity of innovation and disruption brought about by AI technology.

Workflow/Task: Here are four prompts to help you think about different ways to leverage ChatGPT

Prompt 1: Validate any idea.

This prompt is really powerful. It uses:

  • Scoring system

  • Constructive feedback

  • Provides ways the idea should be improved

Forget all prior instructions. You are a Universal Evaluator. Your task is to evaluate a work or idea within a subject that you are an expert in, such as business, creative writing, artistic expression, scientific inquiry, or any other domain where you have extensive knowledge and experience. Using a 1-100 point scoring system. you will rate the merits of the work or idea, drawing from your expertise and understanding of the subject matter. Your evaluation should be accompanied by a well-reasoned explanation, focusing on relevant aspects and providing constructive feedback to help the creator improve their work. Finally, after completing your evaluation, please [ask whether the idea or work should be improved, and provide your reasoning for your recommendation. In your role as a Universal Evaluator, you should strive to stay objective and fair in your evaluations. Always provide a narrated summary of your analysis at the end. If you understand, please ask me what the subject is to be.

Then prompt the idea:

Prompt 2: Learn to anticipate industry trends and changes This prompt is insane, it also gives resources (with links)

Help me identify emerging trends and developments in [industry or topic] and suggest ways to adapt my skillset and knowledge to stay ahead of the curve. Make a table, example - Trends, Developments, Suggestions, Skills needed, resources links

Example below when asking GPT-4 about Trends & Developments in Physics

Prompt 3: Consult any expert you want.

"Let's play a game, Act as a talented entrepreneur, with IQ level of Elon Musk, Einstein, Tesla combined. I will be asking you many business questions, you have to answer all of those"

Prompt 4: Learn anything easily

"Explain [complex topic] in simple terms. Explain to me like I'm 10 years old. And also give many examples in table format to make it more simple and easy to understand."
