Upgrade Your Life with AI

Welcome back to week 2 of "Do more with AI"! In our first week, we had over 500 subscribers, and we successfully predicted that John Rahm would win The Masters. We also shared the latest and greatest developments in the world of AI.

When I think about AI tools, I categorise them as either assistants or amplifiers. Rex Woodbury has a really good framework that helps me consider their use cases:

Assistants - aim to save us time and effort by completing tasks for us, rather than enhancing our abilities. We will focus on these today.

Amplifiers - aim to enhance human abilities; they give us superpowers that make us superhuman. We will focus on these in tomorrow's newsletter.

As AI continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, the integration of AI-driven personal assistants into our daily lives is becoming more accessible for everyone. They are no longer reserved only for executives, upper-management professionals, celebrities, and wealthy individuals.

The recent release of ChatGPT plugins is a bigger deal than the release of GPT-4. This is because the plugins allow ChatGPT to connect to the internet, which is a new feature. Previously, ChatGPT was limited by the dataset it had been trained on, causing it to omit any events that occurred after 2021. For the first time, I genuinely believe that we are not far off from having a personal assistant for every person on earth.

With the new plugins, ChatGPT has become not just a platform, but also a new interface for users to interact with businesses they previously visited directly. Soon, we will see verticalised assistants emerge that are specifically designed for personal and professional use.

Here are some examples I have seen over the past week:

Booking Travel

Imagine entering this prompt into ChatGPT:

“I’m going to Melbourne for five nights. Please book my and my wife's flights that leave in the morning on April 30th and get me home in time for dinner on May 5th, exit row is preferred as close to the front of the plane as possible. I’d like to stay near Collins Street, no more than $500 per night, and would like dinner reservations each night at restaurants with at least a 4.5 rating, different types of cuisine, within walking distance to the hotel.”

That single prompt could save hours of research and a painful booking process, bringing you much closer to the sort of service that high-net-worth individuals receive from their travel agent.

Meal Planning

Greg Brockman from OpenAI provides an example of how ChatGPT plugins work for weekend meal planning.

Legal

Using the DoNotPay ChatGPT Plugin, You can asked A.I to cancel your gym membership. It immediately drafted a legal notice to cancel, e-signed it and connected with USPS to mail it, all without leaving the conversation. The first subscription cancelled using ChatGPT!

These assistants will help with core tasks and become sidekicks for every profession.

The combination of AI and ChatGPT plugins is changing how we use technology, giving personal assistants to everyone. As AI improves, more advanced and personalised solutions will emerge, transforming our daily lives. ChatGPT plugins democratise AI and could empower people worldwide, creating a world where everyone can enjoy personal assistants.
